The Woodlands Selected To Host 2011 Ironman Event

The Woodlands Selected To Host 2011 Ironman Event

World Triathlon Corporation, headquartered in Florida, has chosen The Woodlands, Texas for its inaugural Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas event in a special 5-year agreement.

The Ironman Team, Memorial Hermann, The Woodlands Township and The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau made the announcement Wednesday, June 23, 2010 that the inaugural Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas will take place Saturday, May 21, 2011.

“We are very pleased that World Triathlon Corporation has selected The Woodlands for its Ironman Texas event,” said Bruce Tough, Chairman of the Board of The Woodlands Township. “This world-class event garners major international exposure and is great for the recognition of The Woodlands. At the same time, we will work hard to assure and make sure the entire planning process considers every important aspect from a residential standpoint.”

Participants will begin with a swim in Lake Woodlands, entering the water at Northshore Park and finishing at Town Green Park, which will serve as the transition area. Athletes will then head out on the bike course that will take them west through The Woodlands before heading north to the scenic, rolling farmland of east Texas. The final portion of the race is a marathon course entirely within The Woodlands that concludes with a spectacular finish on Market Street.

“This event will showcase the incredible destination of The Woodlands downtown area and the community’s unique natural beauty,” said Nelda Luce Blair, Chairman of the Board, The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Ironman is a premier brand for athletic competition and the Woodlands is a premier brand for living and corporate headquarters. The two fit together very well and should be beneficial for local businesses and residential volunteer organizations. We anticipate that people from all over the country, and the world, will experience the hospitality and the natural scenic surroundings we have in The Woodlands.”

Nick Wolda, President of The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau added, “The Woodlands and South Montgomery County are quickly becoming household names in competitive sports events, from the world-class brand of Ironman to NCAA, college and high school championships. With people from all over the world living and visiting The Woodlands, Ironman Texas is a perfect match for our international community.”

Wolda adds the announcement of the Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas event is another in a line of prestigious sports competitions held in The Woodlands. Earlier, this year, The Woodlands hosted the 2010 Texas Rush Blue Chip Showcase, which provided amateur soccer players the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of college coaches from around the nation. The area also hosted the Nike South Cross Country Invitational and the Conference USA Cross Country Championship.

A longtime resident of The Woodlands, Steve Sanders, CEO of Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital, welcomed the announcement for multiple reasons.

“My pride that The Woodlands was selected for this race is matched only by my pride in Memorial Hermann’s outstanding sports medicine program. This is a win-win for our community and for Memorial Hermann.”

“Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas will be a phenomenal race,” said Steve Meckfessel, Ironman’s Chief Operations Officer. “The community’s spirit, unique amenities and accessibility make The Woodlands a perfect destination for our athletes and spectators. We’re truly excited about adding this event to the 2011 Ironman schedule.”

An Ironman triathlon consists of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike and a 26.2-mile run, and athletes must complete the three disciplines in succession within a 17-hour time frame. Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas will offer 65 coveted slots to the 2011 Ford Ironman World Championship, taking place on Oct. 8 in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Additionally, there will be a prize purse of $100,000 for distribution among the top professional male and female finishers.

The event will rely on hundreds, if not thousands, of volunteers and the World Triathlon Corporation has committed to $100,000 back to local charities in The Woodlands.

Memorial Hermann Healthcare System, the largest not-for-profit healthcare provider serving greater Houston, will serve as title sponsor of the event. As a major player in the athletic arena, the Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine Institute was actively looking to diversify its programs and outreach through a meaningful partnership.

Therefore, aligning with the World Triathlon Corporation was ideal in that both organizations’ core values revolve around improving the health of the communities they serve and working with athletes to achieve their highest potential.

“With one of the country’s top institutes dedicated to sports medicine and human performance in the Texas Medical Center, more than two dozen sports medicine and rehabilitation locations across our service area, and an outstanding team of physicians associated with our sports medicine programs, Memorial Hermann is the leader in sports related medical services,” said Walt Lowe, M.D., medical director, Memorial Hermann Sports Medicine Institute and Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. “We share Ironman’s interest in helping athletes achieve their highest potential and look forward to working with them to do just that.”

How To Find Great Homes for Sale

How to Find Great Homes for Sale in the Woodlands, Spring and Magnolia

When you are house-hunting with kids in the ever-changing landscape of the real estate world of homes for sale in the Woodlands, comfort and security should always take precedence over other aspects, such as a big backyard or modern amenities like dishwashers and microwaves. What should be far more important is the neighborhood your children will be growing up in and the services that are nearby, most importantly the school.

All of this can be extremely stressful for most parents, but this article will help to alleviate your stress and give you a good starting point from which to start looking for homes for sale in the Woodlands.

1. Start at the bottom. The most important thing for your child is the school that they attend; your house should always be within the schools area. Keep in mind that your children’s education will have a significant effect on their future, which means that it would be best for you to pick the schools you’re interested in and then aim to find homes for sale in the Woodlands near that area.

2. Tour the grounds. Before you commit to the school you’ve picked, it’s always a good idea to have a look around the campus of the prospective schools. Taking your child along will also give them an idea of which school they would like to go to and often enough, the deciding factor that determines which house you pick is based on which school you pick.

3. The area. It’s always a good idea to get a feel for the area before you move in. Take a weekend to go look around the areas that you’re interested in and get a hands on feel for the area. Pay attention to cleanliness, the state of the buildings, and the types of homes you’ll be near, is everything neat and tidy? All of these factors will help keep your houses value up.

Learning the area where your child could be growing up is of crucial importance, so take a wander through on a school afternoon to see the environment your child will be living in, as well. Are there other kids playing in driveways that could be potential friends for your child? And last but not least, make it a point to come back at night; this will help you to get a truer feel for the neighborhood. Is it full of loud parties, hooligans and drugs? Does there seem to be an inordinate amount of activity going on, with people walking the streets, or loitering on street corners? Or is it a quiet peaceful area where you can raise your child in peace?

Despite your stringent screening process, (which is entirely necessary) there will still be an abundance of homes for sale in the Woodlands within your price range. At this point, it all comes down to personal preference. Review all the information you’ve gathered in order to decide which neighborhood is best to raise a child in. After all, your child’s happiness – and your own – are paramount to create a happy home.

The 411 of The Woodlands – Spring Homes

The 411 on The Woodlands Homes Buying and selling  THE WOODLANDS and SPRING

Buying and selling the Woodlands homes will ensure that you join an already huge and constantly growing market. There are already tons of the Woodlands homes up for grabs, so buyers really are spoiled for choice. This is why narrowing it down so that they don’t waste their time looking at homes they won’t buy is of paramount importance. They need to be able to assess what they want from the house and then work out a price range to work with. This will give them a basic idea of where to start looking.

For those of you selling your homes, there is really only one course of action that you need to concern yourself with: finding the right realtor. You need someone who has extensive experience in highly competitive markets in order to help get your home off the market as quickly as possible. If you have decided to sell your property on your own, you need to ensure that you do extensive research in order to best market your home. Internet websites and Social Networking are a must in todays Tec age

As a buyer, you would do well to craft a list of all the things that your home must have, along with a list of the things that you would like your home to have. Both of these lists should have figures on them that will enable you to work out how much your home will cost. Things that the house must have would be the number of bedrooms and bathrooms available.

Naturally, price would also play a major role in deciding which house is right for you and naturally, this varies from location to location, with some beautiful houses costing less due to the area the house is situated in. Working out your price range is something you need to do right from the start, and is something that will help you determine which realtor you end up using.

For those of you selling the Woodlands homes, the asking price is something to be considered carefully. Ask too much and no one will be interested; ask too little and you could be undervaluing your house. Doing a Comparative Market Analysis will therefore help you to work out how much to ask. This along with tax assessments and research into the current market price for similar homes in your region will enable you to give a competitive price while still staying in the green profits wise. Good agents will be able to advise you on the speed with which you need to sell under current economic conditions and can greatly aid your selling process.

For buyers, the location of their home is something that is of great importance. Naturally, the better the area the more expensive the properties, so pay attention to local amenities such as parks, shopping malls, and community centers in order to help you decide where you want to settle down.

Likewise, for you sellers out there, letting your potential customer know what amenities are nearby will go a long way in getting the Woodlands homes off the market fast and getting the money into your hands.
